BENJAMIN, Artie Belle Artie Belle Benjamin, 84, of Kellogg, Idaho passed away February 16, 2010 at the Shoshone Medical Center of Kellogg, Idaho. She was born October 17, 1925 in Everest, Kansas; Artie was the daughter of Charles Calvin and Anna Irene (Eyer) Blankenship. Artie attended and graduated from the Atchison County Community High School of Effingham, Kansas in 1943; she then attended college. Artie married John Benjamin on June 4, 1949 at Effingham, Kansas. They moved to the Silver Valley (Kellogg, Idaho) in 1955 from Kansas. Artie taught in the Atchison County Community school district for seven years. She had also worked at the Kellogg Floral and Gift of Kellogg, Idaho for many years. Artie was a member of the St. Rita's Catholic Church of Kellogg, Idaho for fifty-five years; she was also a member of the Catholic Daughters and the Rosary Group. Artie loved and enjoyed bowling, fishing, gardening, crocheting and craft work. Artie is survived by her beloved husband, John Benjamin of the family home of Kellogg, Idaho; two brothers, Charles Ernest Blankenship of Topeka, Kansas, Albert Leroy Blankenship of San Jose, California; three sisters-in-law, JoAnn Benjamin of San Bernardino, California, Frances Benjamin of Highland, California and Marge Blankenship of Topeka, Kansas; Artie is the proud Aunt of seventeen nieces and nephews, forty-nine great-nieces and nephews and fifty-seven great-great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother John Calvin Blankenship, one sister Helen Irene Busenbarrick; her brother and sisters-in-law Joseph and Elizabeth Platter and Richard and Rebecca Yeager; brothers-in-law Joseph Benjamin, Jerry Benjamin, and John Busenbarrick; sister-in-laws Jean Blankenship, JoAnn Blankenship and Wanda Maxine Blankenship; one niece and two great-nephews. A Rosary service will be held on Friday, February 19, 2010 at 5:00 P.M. at the St. Rita's Catholic Church of Kellogg, Idaho; a Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, February 20, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at the St. Rita's Catholic Church with Father Tom Loucks serving as Celebrant. A funeral service will also be held in Effingham, Kansas at the St. Ann's Parish Hall on Saturday, February 27, 2010 at 10:30 A.M. with Father Ben Tremmel officiating. Burial will be held at the St. Ann's Cemetery of Effingham. The family suggests that memorials may be made to the Catholic Daughters of the St. Rita's Catholic Church of Kellogg, Idaho.
