Bob MORRIS Obituary

Bob Allen Morris, of Nine Mile Falls, WA, was welcomed into Heaven to be with his Lord and Savior on December 6, 2023. Born April 2, 1932, in Pratt, KS, to Dewey and Velma (Hemminger), he grew up with 5 siblings; Ron, Don, Shirley, Margaret (Star) and Jerry (Skip). He was a man of strong values, integrity, traditions, and beamed with the light of Jesus.

Bob graduated from Highland High School in Cowiche, WA, where he met and later married his greatest blessing and love of his life Ardeth on April 7, 1951. He served in the Army for 2 years active, resided in Germany, and 6 yrs reserve. Together, they built their family centered around God and raised their children with His love and guidance; Ann Nichols (Ted), Steve Morris (Laura), Lisa Guffin (Dave), Michael Morris (Kathy), and Jim Morris (Troi). His heart overflowed with pride and joy as his family grew to 13 grandchildren, their spouses, and currently 21 great-grandchildren.

Bob earned his Master's in Education from Eastern Washington University where he also played football. His coaching and teaching career began in Clarkston, WA, in 1956, and then moved into teaching and football coaching at Shadle Park High School during 1963-1982, concluding there as Athletic Administrator. In 1982 he became the Activities Director for all Spokane's high schools and also served as Administrative Executive Secretary for the WIAA. He left an incredible mark on the lives of students in the greater Spokane area, instilling in them the values of teamwork, discipline, and perseverance. Bob retired from 32 years in education and then was the Spokane Regional Director for World's Finest Chocolate for 12 years, where he continued to make a positive impact on the lives of those he encountered.

In his leisure time, he had a passion for hunting, fishing, and spent every summer with Ardeth at Chilko lake. Bob attended Bible Study Fellowship and Calvary Chapel of Spokane. His greatest joy was found in the company of his family and creating treasured memories. He made a point to attend every activity and event possible for his children, grands, and great grands!

A memorial for Bob's life will be held at Calvary Chapel, located at 511 W. Hastings, on January 6th, 2024, at 2pm. All who knew and loved him, join us in a joyous gathering and celebration.

I will dearly miss my Uncle Bob, but I rejoice in knowing he is in the embrace of our Lord and Savior. My wife, Michelle, and I wanted to be there today to celebrate the life of this great man and we are sorry for not being able to make the trip. Our hearts go out to each family member, and though we have momentarily lost a loved one, we will be together in a blink of an eye.

Bob and I were good friends for about 60 years. Our families have taken camping trips together and some of these trips included Mexico, several to Canada, and various locations with the United States.

Bob and I worked closely together when we were both at Shadle Park High School and he was the Athletic Director for our school. When he became Athletic Director for the District, we still worked closely together for the Greater Spokane Athletic League, better known as the GSL.

Bob was a person who made friends easily and I feel sure that they all feel blessed to have known him. He was my best friend for all our years together. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him and to his family and ours, we will always have him in our hearts. He was a good man and a wonderful friend and we will miss him dearly.

You have probably heard the term "thanks for the memories" and this applies very appropriately to Bob, all his family, myself and all my family.

Since 1961, our family would anticipate the yearly autumn arrival of the Morris family hunters to our ranch in Anatone, WA. For generations, we looked forward to getting the phone call that the Morris family would be arriving on opening day of deer season. We don´t recall Bob missing a trip to our ranch in 60 years (1961 to 2021).
We will continue to eagerly await those calls from Bob´s children and grandchildren for the tradition and bond to carry on. The friendship of Bob and his family has been such a cherished blessing to us.

I remember Coach Morris from my days playing football at Shadle Park and later on when he was working for World's Finest Chocolates. He treated me with kindness and respect at the last football game against Rogers High School. Rest in peace Coach.

If it wasn´t for Mr. Morris, I wouldn´t have the mad driving skills that I have today! Bless his heart for getting into cars with novice teenagers so that we could conquer Driver´s-Ed. If I remember correctly he had a passion for a good donut too. May his family find comfort in knowing how many lives he touched.
