Bruce TURNER Obituary

TURNER, Bruce R. Long time Spokane resident, passed away on Wednesday, March 20th, 2013, after a valiant fight with cancer. Bruce was born on June 6th, 1935, in Portland, OR, the son of Oren B. Turner and Velma (Stewart)Turner. Bruce was an Air Force veteran, during the Korean Conflict, serving in Greenland, France, Germany, Tripoli, and Texas. Following his military service, he married Vivian Marshall in Idaho Falls on December 5th, 1957. Together, they had two sons, Robert and Michael, both of Spokane. Bruce lived a very full life and was a successful salesman throughout the Pacific Northwest. Bruce could sell anything to anyone and he loved making friends and building long time relationships, which he continued up until his death. Bruce was a great friend to all he met and left a lasting impression on all he came in touch with. He was a founding member of the North Hill Choir and loved to watch the Mariners! Bruce loved to hunt and fish, garden, and keep up his pool and yard. He was a great cook and his chili was famous! He enjoyed unique meals that he created such as Chow Yuk and Peanut Butter meatloaf! Most especially, he loved his family and was very proud of them all! Bruce is survived by his wife of 55 years, Vivian, his sister, Orene (Turner) Ward of Portland, his sons, Robert (Karrie) and Michael, and his grandchildren, Richelle, Victoria (Taylor Bailey), Matina (Scott Baer), Glenna (Sam Mineer), Megan, Spencer, and great-grand- children McKenzie, Kason, and Emma. Bruce also leaves behind many other family members, KB and Peggy Marshall of Atlanta, Rex and Cathy Marshall of Lake Tahoe and their families. Bruce will be compared with the Sun, his warmth and light will inspire his family even after that Sun has set. We will be warmed by his memory and be guided by his example and influence throughout the rest of our lives. We look forward to a joyous reunion in the next life with our beloved Husband, Father, Brother, Grandfather, and Great Grandfather. The family wishes to thank all the physicians, nurses, and caregivers at Cancer Care Northwest, Gamma Knife, and Hospice of Spokane. A memorial service will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, West 2112 Francis, on Saturday, March 23rd, at 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Guild School for his great grandson McKenzie. To leave a message of remembrance or condolence, please send an e-mail to [email protected]
