Cecil Emil Tobeck, 96, passed away peacefully on March 18, 2026, in Spokane, Washington. He was born on December 9, 1929, in Clayton, Washington. Cecil lived a full and remarkable life, marked by dedication to his family, career, and many passions.

Cecil grew up in Clayton, attended Clayton Grade School, and graduated from Deer Park High School with the Class of 1947. During his high school years, he excelled as an athlete, earning letters in football, boxing, and baseball. Shortly after graduation, Cecil joined the United States Navy in 1947. He was stationed on Kodiak Island, Alaska, and served as an Aviation Electronics Technician aboard an aerial bomber until 1950. His time in the Navy instilled in him a lifelong sense of discipline and adventure. After completing his military service, he spent 5 years at the brickyards before joining the Great Northern Railroad, where he built a long career and retired as a conductor in 1993. His railroad career was a testament to his strong work ethic and commitment.

Cecil's many interests and hobbies enriched his life. He had a deep love for motorcycles – especially Harleys and Goldwings – as well as classic cars. As a licensed pilot, Cecil owned a Cessna 182 and loved flying to different golf courses. After retiring from the railroad, he became an avid golfer and purchased a home on the Deer Park Golf course, where he spent countless hours enjoying the game. Family gatherings were among Cecil's greatest joys. He loved playing cards with family and friends and treasured the time spent together. His kindness, warmth, and steady presence left a lasting impression on all who knew him.

Cecil was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Linda Tobeck; his parents, Emil and Margaret Tobeck; his sisters, Lucille Crawley, June Wisdom, and Margaret Malek; his daughters, Carrie Tobeck and Cheri Burkhart; and his sons, Mark Burkhart and David Burkhart.

Cecil was first married to Anna Mae Heffley, and they shared three children together. He is survived by his sons, Rob Tobeck and Mike Tobeck "Holly"; and his daughters, Julie Knapton and Kimberly Ohl "J.J"; and his brother, Neil Tobeck, "Lindy"; as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will carry his memory forward.

Cecil will be remembered for his adventurous spirit, strong work ethic, and deep love for his family. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Memorial service will be held on April 25th, at 11:30 AM, at Faith Lutheran Church, 214 S. Weber Rd., Deer Park, WA 99006.
