Charles Calkins Obituary

CALKINS, Charles C. Born January 2, 1950 in Spokane to Oscar and Kathleen Calkins passed away September 20, 2010 at his home after battling a long illness. Charley, a lifetime resident of Spokane, graduated from Ferris High School in 1968. After high school Charley worked for Huppins and then went to work for Calkins Manufacturing Company where he worked his way up through the company where he retired as Vice President in 1994. In his retirement Charley spent his days on the water fishing in national professional fishing tournaments with the In-Fisherman Professional Walleye Trail. Charley had many pass-times over the years from sailing on Lake Coeur d'Alene, RVing across the country, photography, flying kites and NASCAR. Charley is survived by his wife, Carol Calkins; daughter, Stacey Calkins (Scott); stepson, Terry Baker (Trudy); parents, O.C. and Katie Calkins; a brother, Jim Calkins (Deb); three grandchildren: Brandon, Katelyn, and Makayla; and numerous cousins. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, September 25, at 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Please visit Charley's online tribute and leave a condolence at www.hennesseyfuneralhomes.com.
