Cheryl GROTH Obituary

GROTH, Cheryl Marie (Anderson) (Age 62) Cheryl Marie Groth of Spokane, WA, passed away February 6th, 2015, with family by her side. Cheryl was born to Howard and Dorothy Anderson on February 19th, 1952 in Colville, Washington. After graduating from Colville High School, Cheryl attended Gonzaga University where she was president of the Gonzaga University Student Chapter of the American Society of Civil Engineers. She graduated with a Bachelors of Science degree in Civil Engineering in 1980. Cheryl enjoyed working with many major companies throughout her professional career. Her most recent position was Director of Capital Projects for Community Colleges of Spokane, where one of Cheryl's proudest accomplishments was managing the construction for the new Early Learning Center and Planetarium at Spokane Falls Community College. Cheryl married her college sweetheart, William Groth, on September 23rd, 1983, with whom she had two children, Alexander and Allison. With her family, Cheryl enjoyed traveling the world. Her many destinations included Uganda, Mexico, Australia, and even a few years living in the Philippines. Cheryl was an energetic person with a wide range of interests. She enjoyed the outdoors, including gardening with her Golden Retriever (and favorite companion) Oliver, golfing, camping at Priest Lake, fishing, snow skiing, scuba diving, motorcycle riding and completing the West Plains WunderWoman Triathlon. Cheryl also enjoyed playing the piano with her children, coaching soccer, volunteering at school and church, and playing billiards. She loved animals as well; rescuing everything from feral kittens to baby deer over the years, and she donated regularly to the Spokane Humane Society. Her father, Howard; mother, Dorothy; and brothers Donavon and Sidney Holden preceded Cheryl in death. Cheryl is survived by her husband of 31 years, William Groth; children Alexander and Allison; brother Daniel (Donna) Anderson; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, February 21st at New Vision Lutheran Church, 3307 W Rowan Ave, Spokane, WA. Online condolences may be made at www.ballanddodd.com . I still think of you and still can't believe you are gone. You were such an amazing person. I think of our soccer coaching days and remember how we knew nothing about coaching, but we wanted our kids to play, so we jumped in and became coaches! Miss you...

I found a letter this month that you had sent to me when we were moving to Vancouver.....it touched my heart then as it does now. I saved the letter all these years.......guess I know why now. Didn't know you would be leaving us so soon. You were truly an amazing person. I miss you my friend!
