Henry, Jr.
Passed away on March 8, 2011 in Spokane, Washington. Clarence was born on November 30, 1930 in Metropolis, Illinois to Clarence Henry and Elizabeth (Williams) Dunbar Sr. He grew up in Metropolis, Illinois and attended Dunbar High School. He graduated in 1950 and went into the US Air Force directly from high school. He spent 20 years in the Service and retired as a Staff Sergeant in 1970. He attended apprentice school for Carpentry and after four years, became a journey man carpenter. He then worked in the Maintenance Department of School District 81 and retired in 1993.
He married his beloved wife, Doris Johnson, in 1973. Together, they brought three children to this marriage, Lori Michelle of San Antonio, Texas; Richard (Kristi) Dunbar of Snohomish, Washington; and Dominic (Angel) Dunbar of Spokane.
Clarence is survived by sisters JoAnn Dunbar of Atlanta, Georgia; Mary Young of Davenport, Iowa; Sharon Tingle of East Moline, Illinois; Carolyn Dunbar of East Moline, Illinois; and Pamela Tyson of Metropolis, Illinois. Brothers: Paul Dunbar of Brookport, Illinois, Donnie (Patricia ) Dunbar of Des Moines, Iowa; Larry Dunbar of Rock Island, Illinois; and Ricky (Georgina) Dunbar of Atlanta, Georgia.
Clarence was preceded in death by mother and father, sisters Virginia Hester, Thelma Lorene Shelton, Shirley Murray, and Ollie Mae Eskridge and brother Windell L. Dunbar.
He leaves behind three grandchildren: Malachi, Sevanna, and Jadon as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Clarence loved gardening, building things, fishing, hunting, friends, family, and dabbling in fixing anything broken. He was a wonderful husband, father, and friend to all to who knew him.
Visitation will be Saturday, March 12 from Noon to 4:00 p.m.
at the funeral home. A Funeral Service will be held Monday, March 14, at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be at Fairmount Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 920 N. Washington, Ste 200, Spokane WA 99201. My Dear Doris and family,
I know your loss is great because your respect, care and love was great.
(I know about these fine character traits. I have been a blessed and grateful benefactor. They have gone with me through my life.)
Clarence will lovingly be in your heart always. He will also be close in your daily memories - fond, unique, and sentimental memories.
Our Father will also be at your side. He will continue to guide your every future step with comfort, strength and in His peace, just as He has always done so faithfully in your past.
