Claudia ROFFLER Obituary
Born on September 6, 1934, to Otha and Nora Darrah in Otis Orchards, WA, Claudia passed away peacefully on August 22, 2021 in her home at Fairwood Retirement Village in the Memory Care Unit.
Claudia grew up in the "little rock house" and graduated from Otis Orchards High School, then went on to Eastern Washington State College (EWU) where she earned her bachelor's degree in education. This is also where she met her future husband Dean Roffler, and they were married in 1958. They soon started a family and Claudia postponed her teaching career to raise her two children. She started teaching in 1966 in the Spokane School District and spent most of her 25-year career at Emerson, Garfield and Linwood Elementary schools. She was devoted to her students and often heard "you were my favorite teacher" years after she retired. A great friend, wife, mother, grandmother and teacher, Claudia will be missed by all her family and friends around the Spokane area. Her positive attitude and smile always brightened any room she entered.
Claudia was preceded in death by her husband Dean and grandson Joshua. She is survived by her children Steve (Laurie) and Cheryl (Mark) Hillis; grandchildren Tyler, Cory (Alia), Timothy, Allison (Cameron), Chase (Olivia), Matt and great-grandchildren Kellen, Beau and Jayde.
Claudia battled Dementia/Alzheimer's bravely for over 20 years and the family would like to thank Fairwood Retirement Village and Horizon Hospice for making her final years both comfortable and productive. A family only graveside memorial will be held at a later date and time.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions go to Horizon Hospice.
