Colleene KLASEN Obituary

Jan 26, 2026

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Colleene Lola Klasen on January 26th, 2026, in Federal Way, WA. She was surrounded by loving family in her final days, before peacefully passing on Monday morning.

Born Colleene Lola Kelley on June 1st, 1935, in Deer Park, WA, to parents Patrick and Lola Belle Kelley. Colleen was one of six children, with two sisters, Kathleen and Shirley, and five brothers, Donald, Orville, Patrick, Raymond, and Timothy.

Colleene was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Martin George Klasen. Martin was born February 14th, 1936, in Spokane, WA, to parents Martin and Edith Klasen. He had two sisters, Marie and Barbara, and a brother, Jerry. Sadly, Martin passed away on May 5th, 2016, in Spokane, WA.

Colleene and Martin met in church in Spokane when they were teenagers. She often spoke about spotting his black hair across the room while he sang in the choir. At that moment, she knew she needed to meet him. They were inseparable from then on.

They married on November 27th, 1954, in Spokane, WA. They had their first child, Christopher Anthony, in 1955. Over the next decade, they welcomed four more children: Gregory Martin in 1956, Robyn Jeanne in 1958, Scott Neal in 1960, and Martin George in 1965. Their family was full of love and happiness.

The family is planning a private memorial.
