Corey Middaugh Obituary

Corey William Middaugh took his final flight to eternal peace on December 30, 2016 surrounded by those who loved him. Corey was born in Spokane, Washington on January 21, 1968 to Terry and Julie Middaugh. He graduated from Northwest Christian High School in 1986 and then from Washington State University with a BA degree in business. Always a hard worker, he gravitated toward the construction industry where he developed the reputation as a dependable employee while also earning the respect and friendship of his coworkers, many of whom became like a second family to him. Corey belonged to Iron Workers Local 14 in Spokane and worked for many companies including Garco Construction, Dix Corporation, and most recently Nordholm Companies. He was very proud of his work, especially for the many large projects he oversaw as a superintendent. Corey traveled all over the country for his job, but when he was home he could usually be found either flying or fishing. Introduced to aviation at an early age, he earned his private pilots license while in high school and spent countless hours boring holes in the sky. He was an active member of the International Aerobatic Club and flew years of competition aerobatics along with his dad and brother. Corey was also an avid fisherman beginning at the age he was old enough to hold a rod. He fished numerous bodies of water and always had some good stories to tell of his experiences. He loved to be out in his boat enjoying the peacefulness of the open water. Corey liked to give the fish lots of options and could often be spotted on Lake Pend d’Oreille with multiple lines out regardless of the amount of people onboard. Corey had a big heart. We will miss his humor, his smile, and his unique perspective on life that would always make us laugh. Corey was an organ donor and the surgeons preserved all of his major organs which are giving many recipients the gift of normal life. Corey was preceded in death by his mother Julie (Chase). He is survived by father Terry and wife Elaine La Tourelle; brother Craig, wife Gina, their children Ashley and Taylor; Uncle Don Welch, wife Sue, their children Scott and Shelly; Uncle Don Middaugh, wife Gloria, their children Karen and Kevin. Memorials may be made to the National Stroke Foundation. A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday January 21 at Chattaroy Community Church 3711 E. Chattaroy Rd.

I was blessed to have met and been a part of this man's life over the last year. The memories, laughs and times we shared will never ever be forgotten. We were to spend Christmas Day together her in California. I did not hear from him and became worried. Now that I know he left to be with the good man upstairs, my heart is very heavy. Corey was such a beautiful man! I always told him he was so gorgeous. He always smelled amazing and treated me like such a lady. I will miss him so much! Had many great hang outs with his co-worker James too.

Corey,
You are forever in my heart. I will carry the love we had together, always.
My solace is knowing how you would tell me I was the only light in your life, your passion did show me this.
You suggested our honeymoon in San Francisco, such beautiful times we had.
Godspeed to us.
Much love to you and your dear soul.
Always, Megan

I am so sorry for your loss. Corey was one of the best coworkers I ever had the pleasure to work with. He was so motivated and quickly advanced up the ranks. He took me up for a ride in his plane and that was such a thrill. He always had a smile and a kind word for everyone. So easy going.

I was so shocked to hear of Corey's passing.
He was the most caring, loving, giving, compassionate, hard working, happy live life to the fullest gentleman I had the pleasure to have come into my life and get to know.
This world lost a great man but heaven gained an even more awesome angel. He will now help watch and guard over all his family and friends... Corey will be truly missed by all the many people who's lives he touched throughout his lifetime.
His spirit and memory will live on through us all.
My deepest condolences to his family, coworkers and friends. May the lord help comfort and guide you all during this time of loss. May you all feel Corey's spirit to help comfort you all.

His friend always.... Love Eve
