Cynthia PENDLETON Obituary
Cynthia "Cyndy" Lynette Pendleton, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away from cancer on September 6th, 2025, peacefully surrounded by the love of her family. She was 71 years old. Cyndy's life was full of love, laughter, strength, and an unwavering devotion to caring for so many people in her lifetime. She had a generous heart and loved ferociously; she touched many lives, as evidenced by the numerous family members and friends who visited her in her final hours.
Cyndy was born on July 7th, 1954, in Spokane, Washington, to Dale and Shirley Smith. She attended the Mead School District growing up and joined the Air National Guard in Fairchild when she was 22 years old. Later in life, she moved to Colorado Springs and as a single parent working full-time she accomplished her BA in Nursing. She was a wound care specialist in Washington and Oregon.
She moved to many places in her life, but one of her favorites was Hawaii. She loved the ocean so much. She would walk the beaches and collect driftwood, shells, and rocks to make beautiful wind catchers as a hobby.
After her retirement from nursing, she was a nanny to her two "grandsons." They were truly a blessing, as they kept her feeling young, energetic, and loved.
Cyndy loved to travel, and she loved adventure, but also loved the quiet meaningful times to relax and craft. She enjoyed a good hearty meal, good conversation, and good people. She was wonderfully sassy with a sharp sense of humor. Cyndy was a beacon of kindness, strength, and compassion not only for her family, but for many who knew her.
Cyndy was preceded in death by her parents, Dale Smith and Shirley (Smith) Simons; sister, Deanne Timm; and brother, Greg Brecken. She is survived by her sister, Sharon Fisher; brother, Gary Smith; sister, Donna Brecken; her children, Debra (Apryl) Banzet, Matthew Porter, David Raugust; daughter of the heart, Stacey Haq; as well as stepchildren, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
She will be remembered as a proud mother, grandmother, sister, auntie, loyal friend, and fiercely independent woman. She will be missed dearly.
