David J. STEWART

David STEWART Obituary

David John Stewart was born in Spokane, April 18, 1955. He attended Sheridan Grade School until he transferred to Upper Columbia Academy for the 5th grade. He graduated from the Academy in 1973 and received his Bachelor of Science degree from Walla Walla College in 1977. After working on his Masters' Degree at Walla Walla College, he transferred to the University of Arkansas and obtained his Doctorate in Biology in 1994.

At the time of his death in February of 2025, David was living in Winterville, Georgia and working for the engineering firm of Bartlett and West of Topeka, Kansas as a GIS Specialist. David was predeceased by his partner, Joseph D. Brassfield; his mother, Helen E. Vest; his stepfather, Stanley Vest; and his father, John T. Stewart. He is survived by his three sisters, Lois M. McDonald of Clarkston, WA, Bonnie J. Schroeder of Spokane, WA, and Patrica A. Carlson of Nampa, ID. He is also survived by two brothers-in-law and six nieces and nephews.

David and Joseph will be interred at Spokane Memorial Gardens located on the Cheney-Spokane Road. There will be a short Memorial Service at 12:30 pm, on October 3, 2025, followed by the burial. The public is invited. Memorials may be directed to local Public Radio and Television Stations or Madison-Oglethorpe Animal Shelter in Danielsville, Georgia.
