Donna GATES Obituary
Donna was born on March 26, 1945, in Los Angeles, California, to Martha and Donald McKennett, the second of three sisters. She was the best gift that her dad received on his 30th birthday. In 1947 the family moved to Millwood, WA. She attended West Valley High School, graduating in 1963. After high school, she attended Beauty School and later owned her own business called "Millwood Beauty Shop" for six years.
During her youth in LA, she starred in a movie with Vincent Price in "Dragonwyck" and a few commercials. After moving to Millwood she belonged to the Rabbit Club and Girl Scouts. In high school, she was a Majorette for West Valley High School.
The biggest joys in her life are her children, Patrick Michael McKennett and Marcy Ann Cockle. She was a phenomenal seamstress and had her own business for a while. A caring and loving soul, she cherished her family and friends as well as her many beloved animals and ELVIS.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Betty Jane Hess. Donna is survived by her son, Patrick (Cindy) McKennett; daughter, Marcy (Ron) Cockle; her grandchildren, Harlen (Jasmine) McKennett, Mercedi McKennett, Jake (Bailey) Cockle, Holly Cockle; and two great-grandchildren, Bodie Cockle and Ember Cockle; her sister, Edith Peck; and several nieces, nephews, and very close friends.
A service will begin at 1:00 pm on December 12, 2023, at Thornhill Valley Chapel, 1400 S. Pines Rd., Spokane Valley, WA 99206.

I am sorry to hear about the loss of Donna. I don´t even remember who referred me to her. We were so lucky to have her as a seamstress and a friend. For decades. Among other sewing she did all my son´s Boy Scout uniforms as well as mine.
After she retired she still helped me with two projects; miniature vintage Scout uniforms that fit Teddy Bears.
Every time I look at that little bear, I think of Donna.
May she Rest In Peace.
