Donna PRING Obituary

Donna Pring passed away on the morning of April 4, 2024. She was a beloved mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to so many. Donna inspired others by her fierce and uncomplaining struggle with lung cancer. With sadness, she left us, but the family is comforted to know she is now reunited in heaven with her husband Jack, whom we lost last June.

Donna was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to Norman and Laura Christensen. At a young age, her family moved to the Spokane Valley, where she later attended West Valley High School. At West Valley, she met the man who would become the love of her life, Jack Pring. She then attended Eastern Washington and Washington State University. She was a student leader in many activities in both high school and college. After 8 years of courtship, Jack and Donna were married on June 28, 1953. Together, Jack and Donna had four children, Jock, Susie, Tim, and Brad. Jack and Donna built a successful life and marriage full of love, respect, humor, and fun.

Donna was generous with her time, her focus was always on others, never on herself. She was creative, artistic, patriotic, hardworking, intelligent, and strong. She treasured her friends and family and they felt that way about her as well.

Donna enjoyed serving others. She was a planner and organizer. From Blue Bird Leader, Campfire Leader, Booth Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, Chester Hills Garden Club, Spokane Lilac Association Chaperone, and Spokane Valley Suburbanite's to name a few, she loved giving back to others. She was a lifelong member of the Spokane Valley United Methodist Church.

Donna led by example in every aspect of her life. Her legacy was to give more than to take and enjoy the small moments. She had uncompromising integrity and a generous and giving heart, she was humble and gracious. Donna loved traveling with Jack and one of her greatest joys was spending time with family at Priest Lake, Idaho. She truly loved being a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend.

Donna is survived by her loving children, Jock, Susan Prince (Stephen), Brad; and her sister, Marilyn Shaw. She was "Grandma" to 10 grandchildren, and "GG" to 16 great-grandchildren. She also adored her numerous nieces and nephews. Donna joins her parents; husband, Jack; sister, Barbara; and son, Tim; in heaven. Losing Tim to cancer was one of the hardest moments of Jack and Donna's life.

Donna lived with strength, and determination until her very last days. At her request, Donna will be honored in a private family service.

In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Boys and Girls Club of Spokane County is suggested. 544 E. Providence Ave., Spokane, WA 99207. If a donation is made, please state, "In honor of Donna Pring" so funds can be directed to the Spokane Valley Boys and Girls Club.

My profound and sincere condolences to the Pring family. Donna was my chaperone when I was Lilac Queen in 1976. She was amazing in every way and truly made my experience a hundred times better than I had anticipated. We bonded immediately. My Mom absolutely loved her and was so grateful for her guidance during my reign. Donna was a huge inspiration to me and I thank God for putting her in my life.
