Eddie QUIST Obituary

QUIST,
Eddie L.

1952 - 2017

Our beloved Eddie passed peacefully into the arms of His Lord and Savior on Friday, May 26, 2017. He was born October 12, 1952, raised in Spokane and later in life moved to North Idaho. He retired from the Spokane Police Dept., the U.S. Marshals Service and Rocket Engineering. He was a member of the Spokane Police SWAT team, Spokane Police Mounted Horse Patrol and Bicycle Patrol. What you first noticed about Eddie, was his bright, warm smile which would light up a room. He was very loveable and likeable with a quick wit and enjoyed making people laugh. Eddie was an experienced pilot having flown single and twin engines airplanes as well as helicopters. He was a man of diverse talents; accomplished in building, aviation, martial arts, music and auto restoration. There wasn't much Eddie couldn't do and if he didn't know how, he would figure it out. For many years he played the piano with his church worship team and felt honored to be a part of that ministry. He had a strong work ethic, loved helping others with projects when he wasn't working on his own. He so loved his family and was always available to help a friend in need. He didn't hold back, he lived life full on, enjoying time with family and friends, flying, boating, fishing, RVing, running (walking in the later years with his precious dog Mugs E. Bear), cooking and riding his Harley.
He is survived by his loving family: wife Lori Payton, mother Edith, sons Joel (Cassie) Quist and Eric (Mona) Quist, grandchildren, Emma Quist, Bryson, Braxton and Jayden Kendall, brother, Alan (Mary) sister Lynette (Bill) Hamilton and sister-in-law Roni Uyeda (Ross Benson). He is preceded in death by his father, Gust E. Quist.

He was deeply loved by his family and friends; our hearts are broken. He leaves a huge void and will be greatly missed.
Until we see you again, Eddie...

"Fast Eddie" I worked with Eddie while he was with SPD and I was working for the County. We had some great weekends out on the town. He would pick me up when he test drove cars. He was one in a million!

Have not connected with Ed for many years, last time was in 2000 he was working security at the U.S. court house. We worked together in our youth at Albertsons, later we had a few classes together in college. Ed and I pushed one another in P.T. class, we were competitive and had a great time. Good memories, God bless pal.

He was one of the nicest, kindest, and friendliest friends I know. He will be missed by all who knew him. He was a blessed man and blessed all around him. I am absolutely shocked at his passing, but I will see you on the other side some day, Eddie. I know your family and friends will never be able to get over your passing. I worked with Eddie many years at the US Courthouse. We spent many long hours talking to each other during those years.

How special to know a man responsible for providing such amazing memories. We speak of Eddie often with love and affection for the person he was. Our love and prayers are with his family. We hope they will find comfort in knowing that this man will never leave us as his spirit lives on in all the lives he touched. We consider it a very great honor to have known him.

My family (James, Rebecca, Hannah) and I were lucky enough to know Eddie through my sister Mary, married to Eddie's brother Alan. Eddie was exact as described in the obituary - a lovely, friendly, honest and welcoming person who was always ready to engage in a conversation, had a great sense of humor and was helpful and kind in every way. He will be missed by his family close to him and us who were further away. RIP
