Francis DUVAL Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of a wonderful man, Francis (Frank) D. Duval on December 20, 2024 in Greenacres, WA. Though he is no longer with us, we rejoice knowing he is forever home with his Savior, Jesus Christ.

Frank was born January 2, 1936, in Great Falls, Montana, to Francis (Frank) H. Duval and Hope Estelle Duval. The second of two children, his sister, Deane Sexton, preceded him in death along with his parents.

Frank enlisted in the Coast Guard during the Korean War. He spent most of that time stationed at a lighthouse in Ketchikan, Alaska. Upon his discharge, Frank attended Gonzaga Prep. Afterwards, he was employed as a board marker at the Spokane Stock Exchange. Following that, Frank opened Duval Securities along with his Dad in the Peyton Building where they traded mining stocks until the mid- 1960s. After that endeavor concluded, Frank would spend the rest of his professional career in the mining industry.

Frank, always optimistic, was instrumental in the formation of numerous mining companies, taking them from project acquisition to production. His last mining venture, involving of a project located in Stibnite Idaho, is currently awaiting the Final Record of Decision, which grants the company permission to build the mine.

Besides working hard, Frank also played hard. He was an avid sportsman, having hunted polar bear off the Siberian coast, brown bear in Alaska, grizzly bear in Canada and big game in Africa. He took particular pleasure in fall elk hunting, setting up an extravagant camp for he and his friends. He would supply most of the food and the guys would enjoy lots of steak and bacon.

Along with hunting, Frank also enjoyed, horses and mules, hot rods, snowmobiling and camping with friends and family. Frank really liked dinning out, almost always ordering a big steak. Bring the bread he would say as soon as we sat down.

Frank was a generous person, even at the end, his concern was for his family. He will be greatly missed.

Frank is survived by his wife, Janice Duval, his children, Misty Jordan (Brian), Heather Ennis (Jesse) and Frank L. Duval, four grandchildren and two step-grandchildren. At Frank's request, a private family funeral will be held to honor him.

I grew up with Frank's kids on Mica Peak. We had some amazing days riding horses, motorcycles and snowmobiles. We got to play in his magnificent trophy room where all of his hunting trophies were. Can't say many grew up that way. Some beautiful memories of those magical times. My condolences to his family and all who knew and admired him.
