Gary THOMPSON Obituary

June 23, 1943 - December 28, 2022

Gary Nugent Thompson passed away December 28, 2022 at the age of 79. He was born June 23, 1943 to Nugent "Tex" Thompson and Loretta Mossuto Thompson in Spokane, Washington. Much of his young life was spent with his parents as a military child stationed at various Air Force bases, including one of the earliest families at Elmendorf Air Force Base in Anchorage Alaska.

After graduating from West Valley High School and working at Slim's Texaco, Gary was employed by AB Dick Company and started his career in the Office Equipment industry, eventually opening his own company, GT Graphics.

The call of the road lured him into his final and likely favorite career as a truck driver. This gave him the opportunity to see the United States and Canada and to collect stories behind the wheel of a big rig.

An avid outdoorsman, Gary loved camping, fishing and riding motorcycles. He held a special place in his heart for time spent at Freeman Lake in Bonner County, Idaho and for the annual pig roasts he hosted there.

Over the years, Gary developed a passion for photography to capture shared adventures with friends and family. We all enjoyed his funny (and sometimes inappropriate!) pictures and his ability with Photoshop to make unique and personalized cards and pictures.

Gary is survived by his children, Gina Roberts (Craig) of Spokane WA; Mark Thompson (Tammy) of Quilcene WA; grandchildren Brett Thompson and Leslie Thompson Taylor (Chad); great grandchildren Klay Thompson and Reid Taylor; and his long time special lady, June Noble.

A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, June 25, 2023 at Darcy's Restaurant, 10502 E. Sprague Ave from 1:00pm to 4:00pm.
