Gordy and I were close friends during our formative years at G-Prep. We got to know each other during Junior and Senior years (1966 and 1967). Gordy was fun to talk to about the things most important: sports, girls, people we admired and God - did he really exist?
We got into endless arguments of about the purpose of life. What was life essentially about? We argued but also laughed a lot. Gordy had a laugh That was so authentic that he always cheered me up.
He knew my girlfriend "Andi" who later became my wife. He would sometimes chauffeur the two of us around Spokane on city dates and would sometimes join us for dinner. Gordy was fun to be around, always had a ready quip or comment, and was a good friend to both of us.
With so much going in our friendship, Gordy and I had to get into trouble eventually. In one Saturday in July, we both decided to call in sick for work at our summer jobs, and then to go to a resort in Twin Lakes Idaho for needed rest, relaxation and to determine the veracity of the rumor that the best-looking girls in the Pacific Northwest congregated at this resort. But God intervened. When we arrived at the resort, we immediately lost the keys to the car while swimming and I had to call my dad at a nearby lake to retrieve us. Well, even though we confirmed the Idaho girls were quite lovely, the Buzz Kill of getting picked up by Dad pretty much end any romantic notions further. That was the way it often happened with us. We lost the keys and always protected somehow from "getting in over our heads".
As my career progressed, I moved away and lost contact with Gordy, his wife Ronda, and little Andi - the daughter he named after my wife Andi. We´ve had different life paths, but I´ve always felt Gordy gave me the confidence to try new things, find the things I love to do and then do them. I´ve lived a better life because Gordy was my friend during those formative years. Thank You Gordy. I hope to see you again . . .in the next life.
And let´s have Andi hold the keys!

I was a classmate of Gordy's at G-Prep. It was great to read about his big family. He was an outstanding athlete and a terrific guy.
