James Aumick Obituary

AUMICK, James Edward James Edward Aumick passed away on Friday, June 5, 2009, at Coulee Medical Center in Grand Coulee after a short, but courageous battle with cancer. He was born on June 25, 1941, to Edward and Florence (Pratt) Aumick in Okanogan. Jim grew up in the Omak/Okanogan area as well as Nespelem. He graduated from Coulee Dam High School in 1960. Jim served in the United States Air Force from 1960 to 1968 as a munitions specialist. He served his country in the Vietnam War from 1964 to 1965 as a weapons munitions supervisor. Along with multiple letters of recognition, decorations and badges, Jim was awarded six medals including the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal. After completing his military service at Fairchild Air Force Base and being honorably discharged, Jim remained in the Spokane area as a self-employed contractor for the next 20 years. In 1987 he relocated to the Electric City area where he operated the Electric City Athletic Club for several years. Later Jim was employed at the Banks Lake Golf Course as well as remained active in contracting and carpentry. Jim was an avid fisherman and he enjoyed Banks Lake very much, however, he was stubborn about sharing his favorite fishing holes with his sisters! Jim is preceded in death by his father, Edward Aumick. He is survived by his mother Florence Aumick, Electric City; brothers: John (Marilyn) Aumick of Elmer City, Rod (Shiela) Aumick of Sandpoint, ID, Scott (Annie) Aumick of Holland, MI, and sisters Sharon (Bob) Hollingsworth and Jo McCoy all of Electric City; Jim is also survived by eight nephews, one niece and several great-nephews and nieces.
