James BELISLE Obituary

September 26, 1959 - February 10, 2024

Spokane - On February 10, 2024, at the age of 64, James Alan Belisle passed away peacefully in Spokane, WA, in the home of his brother and sister-in-law, Ron and Kathy, surrounded by the love and care of his siblings. He had suffered a stroke on December 28, 2023. The days following were spent at Sacred Heart in Spokane with swarms of family arriving at his bedside and via FaceTime, sharing their love and favorite memories with him. He felt deeply loved upon his death.

The last of seven children, Jim was born to Johanna and Glenn Belisle on September 26, 1959, in Great Falls, MT. As a student of Cascade, MT schools, Jim served as student council representative and was a member of the National Honors Society. For three semesters, Jim attended Washington State University in Pullman, WA.

In 1995, Jim married the love of his life, Rosie, who came to the marriage with a two-year old son, Nicholas, whom Jim took on as his own. In the years that followed, the family welcomed five more children-Isabel, Olivia, Nathaniel, Nadia, and Serena. All of whom Jim cherished.

Throughout much of Jim's life, he worked as a cabinet maker and kitchen designer for various companies in Spokane, later moving the family to Georgia where he continued his profession. After over three years in Georgia, Jim returned to Spokane to be closer to his siblings and their children.

One of the greatest and proudest achievements of Jim's life was victory over addiction issues. In all his struggles, he knew where the light could be found and turned to Scripture often for insight and encouragement. He loved to be surrounded by his siblings, nieces, and nephews, all of whom adored him and loved to laugh-till-we-couldn't-breathe with him.

Later in life, Jim was a proud resident of the sober living Oxford Houses of Spokane where he developed meaningful friendships. His family would like to thank his Oxford housemates and friends for their care of him. He loved telling funny stories about his time living with you all.

The family would also like to thank the doctors and nurses who cared for him over his many weeks at Sacred Heart, and thereafter Horizon Hospice. Your compassion, care, and kindness are appreciated by his family.

Jim was preceded in death by his mother, Johanna Harvey; his father, Glenn Belisle; brother-in-law, Mike Drinkall; nieces and nephew: Faith, Claire, and Jason; and dear friend, Scott Strahan.

Jim is survived by his children, Nicholas C. of Spokane, WA, Isabel H. (Lucas) of Edmond, OK, Olivia H. (Bryan) of North Augusta, SC, Nathaniel B. (Jayla) of Villa Rica, GA, Nadia K. (Sage) of Temple, GA, and Serena H. (Kylan) of Villa Rica, GA; ex-wife, Rosie of Villa Rica, GA; granddaughter, Vyla H. of Villa Rica, GA; siblings, Carol Ann Belisle of Burnsville, NC, Rosemary Drinkall of Meridian, ID, Stephen Belisle (Becky) of South Jordan, UT, Dennis Belisle (Carlene) of Spokane, WA, Margaret Belisle of Helena, MT, and Ron Belisle (Kathy) of Spokane, WA. Lastly, Jim is survived by a plethora of nieces and nephews whom he mentored in love.

Our beloved Jim now walks with his Lord. He will be forever missed and loved.

A celebration of Jim's life will be held at the chapel of the Union Gospel Mission Camp (6088 Martha Boardman Rd., Ford, WA 99013) on Saturday, June 15, 2024, at 3:00pm, with a reception of light appetizers to follow.
