James F. "Jim" STARR

1949 - 2024

Passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, May 5, 2024, in the comfort of his home in Seven Bays, WA. Jim was born on January 7, 1949, in Spokane, WA, to Charles and Rose Starr. He grew up in Spokane where he attended and graduated from Lewis & Clark High School. Then attended EWU where he received his degree in business finance. Jim owned and operated an Insurance and Investment company for several years, Starr, Starr and Brown, which later became Brown and Starr until his retirement April 1, 2024. Jim was a Deacon of the Valley Fourth Church, member of the NRA and the El Katif Shriners. Jim loved his relationship with God and shared with many people, sitting on the deck with Mary enjoying his coffee, and the occasional glass of wine at the lake and boating. Jim is survived by his beloved life partner, Mary Gamble; his daughter, Jamie Starr; stepdaughter, Chris (Jeff) Ferderer; stepsons and their wives, Troy (Andy) Morgan and Sandy (Shelley) Morgan; and his grandchildren, Stephanie, Taylor Eli, and Chloe Morgan. As well as his great-granddaughter, Payton Critchlow, in addition to several nieces, nephews, and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Rose Starr; and his two stepbrothers, Jerry and Richard Mellinger. A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held on Friday, May 31, 2024, at 12:00 PM (noon), at the Egypt Christ Lutheran Church, 41697 State Rt. 25 N., Davenport, WA, with Pastor Tyler Gubsch officiating. A family Interment will be held at the Mt. View Cemetery, Davenport, WA. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Jim's name can be made to the Lincoln Hospital Foundation, 10 Nicholls St., Davenport, WA 99122.
