Jay WILHELM Obituary

Jay Leo Wilhelm, lovingly known as Papa, went home to his Lord and Savior on June 12, 2024, at the age of 61 in Post Falls, Idaho. He was born on August 29, 1962, in Newport, Washington, as the youngest of nine and grew up helping take care of the family farm. Jay was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Lori Wilhelm.

Jay's greatest joy in life was his family, and he cherished every moment spent with them. He found immense happiness in spending time with his wife, especially at their favorite spot, the 'cove,' on their boat. Jay and Lori enjoyed traveling to Las Vegas and Seattle Seahawks games. He took great pride in the cabin he built at Priest Lake, which became a cherished retreat for the entire family.

Jay found joy in snowmobiling with his friends and family, enjoying the boat on Priest Lake and exploring the great outdoors through hiking. He adored his grandchildren and relished in the moments spent with them on these excursions. Jay's passion for life extended to building a successful business, leaving an enduring legacy.

In his free time, Jay enjoyed indulging in his favorite foods, particularly the pork nachos at Elkins Resort. Jay found solace and enjoyment in watching PBS and any Jurassic Park movie. As a loyal fan, he loved couch quarterbacking for the Seattle Seahawks.

Jay was known for his strong faith and was a devout Catholic. He firmly believed that "God is Good," and this motto guided his life and interactions with others. He impacted the lives of those around him by always being there to offer help or sound advice.

Jay leaves behind a lasting legacy of love and devotion. He is survived by his wife, Lori Wilhelm, their two sons, Chris(Kim) and Josh(Taylor). Jay's five grandchildren, Addilyn, Malachi, Lainey, Cooper, and Elijah, whom brought immeasurable joy to his life. He is also survived by his brothers, John, Jeff and Joe and sisters, Joann, Jackie and Julie. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Virginia, his precious daughter Carrie, and his sister and brother, Jane and Jerry.

Jay Leo Wilhelm will be remembered for his unwavering love, driven personality, stubbornness, honesty, and strong faith. His impact on the lives of others is immeasurable, and his memory will forever be cherished by those who were fortunate to know him.

I remember a few years back being caught with joyous surprise learning that you had offered your beautiful Priest Lake cabin and boat to Paul and I for a short retreat. No strings attached, just pure gift. We had a special time enjoying the place you loved best. I pray for your eternal rest, for perpetual light to shine upon you and for the souls of your loved ones having gone before you.

I grew up with Jay as the inseparable part of the dynamic duo of Mark and Jay. I am Mark Florence's youngest brother. Jay was either at our house helping Mark kick everyone's butt's at Foosball or at the family house doing the same. There are too many fun and hilarious memories to list them all! Jay's smile and laugh remains in my memory though I have not seen him sense around 1980. Jay was and is part of my family and the world is a lesser place without him in it. I am truly sorry for our loss! With my greatest sympathy Kevin Florence.
