John BOSWELL Obituary
John O'Neill Boswell (55) died peacefully at home on September 20, 2024, surrounded by friends and family. His sudden loss leaves an immense hole for those of us who knew him as a loving father, caring son and family member, gifted athlete, avid sportsman, talented craftsman, caring boss, and loyal and compassionate friend.
John was born to Donald O'Neill and Mary Jane (Graham) Boswell, on December 18, 1968, in Moses Lake, Washington. Following the death of his father, when he was three, his mother married Larry Honegger, and they moved to Spokane. He was later joined by brothers, Adam and Chris.
A gifted athlete, John played sports in school but also loved playing racquetball and soccer. He liked doing anything outdoors and spent his childhood camping, motorcycling, hunting, and fishing with family and friends.
John graduated from Central Valley High School and later moved to California to follow his dream of playing racquetball at a higher level. He became a nationally ranked player and spent several years as the racquetball pro at the Capital Athletic Club in Sacramento.
John married and later divorced, but the relationship gave him two sons, Rocky and Thorin, who he loved more than anything in his life. John was a stay-at-home father for six years. He was loving, patient, and playful with his boys; and always had a big smile on his face when he was with them.
His entrepreneurial spirit and artistic talent led him to begin his own successful business as a general contractor. For the past 14 years he specialized in building, remodeling, repair, and maintenance for high-end, downtown San Francisco restaurants.
John moved back to Spokane a year ago to help his parents. Since that time, he and his brother, Chris, with whom he shared a special bond, spent many peaceful hours flyfishing, scouting hunting spots, and spending time at his cabin. He relished being home among his large extended family once again and reconnecting with old friends.
John is survived by sons, Rocky and Thorin Boswell (Santa Rosa); his parents, Mary Jane and Larry Honegger (Millwood); brother, Chris Honegger (Deer Park); Mark and Sash Nagle (Santa Rosa), who became his Californian brother and sister; brother, Adam Honegger (Newman Lake) and his family, Carrie, Madison and Zachary; his large extended family which includes dozens of aunts, uncles, and cousins; and many friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 26, at 1:00 PM, at the Meeting House of the LDS Church Building, 4014 S. Bowdish Road in the Spokane Valley.
