John TORMINO Obituary

TORMINO, John Jasper
(Age 90)

Passed away on Tuesday May 2, 2017 at Sweet Valley Place, Spokane, Valley, WA. John was born April 20, 1927 to Ann and Jasper in Spokane, WA. He had one brother Joe Blanda, and one sister Frances Lanning. He graduated from Lewis and Clark High School in Spokane, WA. He married Dorothy Raugust in 1951. Together they had three children: Nancy, John and Patti who became a lifetime joy and passion. Everyone who knew John was touched by him in a unique way. His motto for living was work hard, play hard, be humble, and be kind. That's how he lived.
He founded Tormino Sash and Glass April 25, 1950, and worked the company full time for 64 plus years. He taught the importance of a strong handshake, looking someone directly in the eyes when speaking to them, hard work, and the legacy and pride of being a Tormino.
He was an avid golfer, and a longtime member of the Indian Canyon Golf Men's Club and Esmerelda Golf Men's Club. His joys were his family, work, women, bowling, dancing and music. A man as humble and loving as Big John will always be remembered by those of us who knew and loved him. Although we will miss him, his smile, his love, we take consolation in the good feelings of our memories. You were a role model, and a friend. His guidance and love will carry us through to the end of our days.
He is survived by his children: Nancy M. Taormina, John K. (Misty) Tormino and Patricia A. Thayer; grandchildren Taylor, Jace Thayer (Melissa), John Thayer, Alisha Thayer; great-grandchildren Chloe, Thomas, Z. Johnston, Braden, Zac and Resa. He was preceded in death by his brother Joe and sister Francis, ex-wife, Dorothy, and granddaughter Mitrah.
Viewing will be Friday, June 2, 2017 from 12:00-5:00PM at Hennessey Valley Funeral Home, 1315 N. Pines Rd., Spokane Valley, WA 99206. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, June 3, 2017 at 11:00AM at Hennessey Valley Funeral Home, 1315 N. Pines, Spokane Valley, WA. Please dress casual. Reception to follow. We are sorry so sorry for your great loss. I am the daughter of Dale and Eva Eastburg. They were friends of John and Joe for many years...Dad was a glass contractor for Fuller glass. Mother is 94 and Father is 96. They still live in their own home, but like life goes, the older years have been hard on them. Myself being not far behind and catching up pretty fast. 73 for me. Good Bless the Tormino and Blanda family for their recent loss. May he bring you strength, and many of good memories about your loved one. My Prayers, Diane Eastburg Omeron
