Joseph GANZ Obituary

Joseph "Joe" John Ganz passed away in Olympia, WA, in December of 2024. Joe was born in Jacksonville, FL, to Joseph and Regina Ganz. The family relocated to Philadelphia soon after Joe's birth. The oldest of five siblings, Joe grew up surrounded by his large extended family in Philadelphia. At age 16, his family moved to Seattle, where he graduated from Bishop Blanchet High School. Joe returned back east to attend La Salle University, where he was also a track athlete. He earned his Juris Doctor from Gonzaga University School of Law. Upon graduation, Joe began his legal career clerking for Spokane County Superior Court Judge George T. Shields. He practiced law in Spokane and then Seattle for over 45 years as an insurance and medical malpractice litigator. Joe's hobbies included sailing, skiing, cooking, golfing, and gardening. He loved traveling, sports, Philly cheesesteak, lemon meringue pie, tinkering, and decorating for Christmas.

Joe is survived by his children, Karin Ganz (David Thompson), Matthew (Ellen) Ganz, Emily (Matthew) Cozza, and Keenan Ganz; his grandchildren, Laurel (Sean) Fay and Keenan Thompson; his siblings, John Ganz, Mike (Beth) Ganz, Therese (Jeff Brunner) Ganz; and his former wives, Kathleen (Michael) Cannon and Mary (Paul Stedman) Ladner Ganz. He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Maureen (Don) Olsen.
