Kenneth COLEMAN Obituary

Deer Park - Kenneth Hunt Coleman died peacefully at home on April 11, 2023, in Deer Park, WA, at age 78. Ken was born October 21, 1944, in Portland, OR, to Verlin and Gwen Coleman. He graduated from Sunset High School (1962), Oregon State University (1966), and earned his medical degree from Loma Linda University (1973) and law degree from Gonzaga Law School (1992). Ken's professional life began in 1974 when he established the Republic Medical Clinic and opened his Family Practice. His life revolved around serving others as an emergency room physician, most notably in Republic, Spokane, and Dayton, WA; and as a medical malpractice attorney. He practiced law and medicine until his retirement. Ken had a sense of adventure and a real love for flying and earned his private pilot's license. He was always willing to take the call of his family and friends seeking advice in his areas of expertise. He will be missed by many whose lives he touched. Ken was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Don Coleman. He is survived by his wife, Starla; his children, Chad (Nicole) Coleman, Christina (Brian) Baker, and Brooke Hage; his stepchildren, Adam (Lisa) Leno, and Dione Anterola; sixteen grandchildren, and his first wife, Nancy Coleman McIntyre. A memorial service for Kenneth H. Coleman, M.D., J.D., will be held on Saturday, April 29, 2023, at 4:00 pm at the Kettle Falls Seventh-day Adventist Church 210 W. 11th Avenue.

Unfortunately, I discovered Ken's obituary when I was looking for his address for a Christmas card. I first met Ken in the 1970s when he came to my town looking for a place to practice. He went to Republic Washington instead. In our roles as emergency physicians later we crossed paths several times. I recall that Ken was loved by his patients and also by the staff. He was a great person.

Hello Dear Coleman Clan,
My most sincere sorrows!

I had the singular pleasure of working with
Dr. Ken at Ferry County Memorial Hospital
and, unexpectedly - years later, in the ER at the Deutsches Fest in Odessa.
Some memorable times, eh Doc?

Joy be to you all,
Love,
Susan Hageman, RN (retired)

I am so sorry for your family loss! Dr. Coleman was a good friend to us while we attended the Kettle Falls Church. He helped my husband Dennis many times while he was having insecurities with his dementia both in person and over the phone. Ken was always able to assure him and calm him down. We greatly appreciated his friendship. I am sure he will be missed by many. My deepest sympathy to you. Sincerely, Charlene Ranalla
