Kimberly ALLEN Obituary

Spokane - Kimberly Jo Allen passed away on January 27, 2023, due to a tragic accident in Spokane Valley, WA. Kimberly (Kim) was born March 20, 1965, to Vivian Evelyn Derks in Riverside, CA. She was the youngest of 5 siblings. At the age of 8, Kim was adopted by Omar Douglas Braden (Doug) and had both a mom and dad. Shortly after, she moved from California to Clarkson, WA, where she lived out the rest of her childhood. She grew up on a car lot, where she found her love for anything on wheels. Kim's childhood dream was to be a race car driver. At the age of 15, she got pregnant with Terra Jo and at 18 gave birth to her second daughter Autumn Dawn. After relocating to Spokane she gave birth to her boys Randal Lee and Tyler Chase. When Tyler was a year old, Kim met her soulmate, and best friend Adam Swearingen. Kim's first job was at Garden Square nursery in Lewiston, ID and that's where she developed her green thumb and obsession with plants. After moving to Spokane her love for people landed her a job at Deaconess Hospital and other healthcare facilities throughout the city. Whatever she did she shined, she attracted attention from every direction and she LOVED being in the spotlight. Once she learned this, the stage is where she felt most comfortable and she finished her career as an entertainer. To know her was to know love. Whatever she did, it was done with passion. Her joys came from loud music, white sand, sunny skies, plants, and gardening but her greatest joy was her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was proud to be a mom and her unconditional love, open-mindedness, and values made her the best mom ever. She had a way with words and loved to write. Leaving you speechless with poetry, quotes, or just a quick ILY note. She chose the exciting road rather than the easy one. If there was a line not to cross, she would dance all over it in red stilettos and a mini-skirt. She was raised as a Christian and kept a spirituality and love for Jesus until he took her home. Her passing is tragic and unexpected which left her whole family hurting. She is preceded into death by her soulmate (Adam), big brother (Timothy), her mother (Vivian), her dad (Doug), and nephew (Christopher). She is survived by her 4 kids Terra Jo, Autumn Dawn, Randal Lee, and Tyler Chase. Her 10 grandchildren, Chandler, Andrew, Hayden, Arianna, Chris, Braden, Levi, Jayden, Saylor, and Thalo. Her 2 great-grandchildren Gracelynn "Bug" (Andrew, Brynn) and Haylie Mae (Chandler, Kelli). Her brothers Rick Derks, and James Braden, and her sister Cynthia (Steve) Wade along with several nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles. Her memorial service will be held March 3, 2023, at the Sunset Chapel 5200 W. Wellesley Ave., Spokane, WA 99205. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for house plants or small donations to help with travel costs for her kids and grandkids.

I want the four of you Terra, Autumn, Randy Jr. and Tyler to know how proud I am of each of you for the way you've handled this horrible tragedy. Your mom loves you with everything she is because the four of you are her everything. The venue and service were so beautiful and heartfelt. I will forever miss my little sister. Her style and personality are unique only to her. I was blessed to have her as my little sister and am even more blessed to have you all in my life to love and always remember my beautiful, quirky, fun & talented sister. I love you all so much and am so sorry for the pain you are feeling. I hope the millions of cherished memories you have will comfort you in the days to come as you move forward and share your memories with your children and grandchildren....
With Love & Deepest Sympathy,
Aunt Cindy

Kim was a kind open person that overcame life's and passed too soon. I know little "Bug" was the passion of her last days. I met Kim and one of her granddaughters while traveling on the train and am one of her FB Friends.

My heart and prayers go out to her beautiful family! Kim was the most free spirited person I've ever met. She was absolutely the life of any party and spoke the truth whether you wanted to hear it or not! She truly cared for others and knew exactly what to do to put a smile on your face! I pray that she can be the anchor for her family to get through this devastating loss, as she was always their anchor in life.
