Lawrence Poole Obituary

POOLE,
Lawrence W.
(Age 62)

Larry W. Poole passed away after a brief illness on September 24, 2011. He graduated from John Rogers High School in 1967 and served in the US Army with the Signal Corp as a Communications Repair Specialist from 1968 to 1971. He served in Viet Nam and Thailand for one year.
Larry attended SCC for three years and received his electronic technician certification and later went on to get his associate degree. He worked at SFCC for 33 years as the Lead Media Maintenance Technician. Larry was very dedicated to his job, and was well-known and respected by many of his colleagues and will be greatly missed.
He was a loving husband, devoted parent and grandparent. He is survived by his wife, Sandy of nearly 40 years; son, Jeff (Ruth); daughter, Anna; parents, Walt and Grace; brother, Gene (Hua); sister, Gail (Don); niece, Tracy (Graham); nephews, Conner and Wei Tao, three grandchildren, and many cousins, aunts and uncles.
Larry loved spending time with family and friends, dancing with his wife, Sandy, and traveling. He loved the outdoors and many years were spent camping , backpacking, boating, hiking, and on his 4-wheeler. He especially loved the ocean, swimming pools and palm trees.
His genuine personality, easy-going manner, great smile, sense of humor and the kindness that he showed to all will be dearly missed, but will live on forever in the hearts of those of us who got to know him.
Memorial services will be held at Indian Trail Church, 9010 N. Indian Trail Rd., on Friday, October 14, 2011 at 2:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to Hospice of Spokane. The family wishes to thank the Hospice House of Spokane for the compassionate, excellent care they gave to our loved one.

Hard to believe it's been 10 years since we lost Larry. He and Sandy are together again. We will always remember Larry and still miss him. Took this photo of Larry and Sandy in Oct 2004 when they visited us in Albuquerque - on top of Sandia Peak at 10,000'.

I spent most of my time at Rogers High around Larry in our Homeroom. I spent several summers bucking hay bales with Larry. A great "buddy" and friend he was always a pleasure to be around. Its hard to believe he is gone.

May God bless and give peace to his family and friends until we finally see him in heaven.

Larry was a great friend at SFCC. I loved his quiet sense of humor. One of my favorite memories is about Jerry Robinson's retirement party. I was pretending to be a tech and taking apart an old VCR. Didn't avoid the sharp pointy parts and noticed suddenly blood spurting out of my finger. This was in front of an audience Larry was suddenly beside me quietly wrapping a rag around my finger as if that was part of the act. He was very funny and as helpful as Larry always was. I cannot believe I won't see his smiling face again. Going to miss him a lot.

I graduated with Larry at John Rogers. I have many fond memories of our time in band with Mr. Foster. I also knew his sister Gail. My prayers are with your family during this difficult time.

Sandy, I remember all the fun times we had together in college, always hanging out at your house. (Larry always had to put up with us).
Larry truly has a beautiful soul; joyous, peaceful, and full of grace and love. I pray for you and your family during this time.

I worked with Larry--or better, he worked with me--on all kinds of matters in my standard day history classes, but most especially as we video recorded my American history telecourse presentation/discussions. A gentler more accommodating and competent person I have never worked with. I can only imagine the loss felt by those of you closest to him, given the dismay I feel at learning only now of his sudden illness and passing. He is one of the finest human beings it has been my pleasure to know. Without having been there, I know you, his most loved ones, have a lifetime of wonderful memories to sustain you. You are so fortunate to have had him in your lives.

In memory of a great friend. I have worked with Larry for over 13 years at CCS. He was a great friend and fellow US Army veteran. We were both stationed at Fort Monmouth NJ and had many stories to share. It is people like Larry which makes this country great. I salute you and will miss you my friend.

While I never knew Larry more than through our numerous, though brief moments in my check-out line, he was always so kind, warm and never failed to have a bright smile on his face. He is missed and I am so sorry for your loss.

Dear Sandy and Family,
I only met Larry a few times, but knew, through my contact with Sandy, how much he was loved and how important his family was to him. God bless you during this very difficult time.

In loving memory of a wonderful person. We were blessed to have Larry as a neighbor for 7 years. One of the kindest men we've known. Will always remember the fun Steve and Larry had hanging out at cruise nights in the '70 Cutlass. We will miss Larry always. Our deepest sympathy to the Poole family.
