Marc Roecks Obituary

ROECKS,
Marc
Richard

Marc Richard Roecks, born October 12, 1953, passed peacefully on November 14, 2011 into God's hands, after a courageous battle with colon cancer.
He happily grew up on a wheat farm outside Fairfield, Washington. Marc enjoyed growing up on the farm, helping with harvest, and operating and repairing machinery. He graduated from Liberty High School in 1972. After high school, Marc entered the world of real estate and became a well respected member of the Spokane Board of Realtors and also a charter member of the Independent Brokers. Marc was a co-owner and the broker of Roecks & Roecks Real Estate.
In 1989, he graduated from Gonzaga University School of Law. Marc enjoyed the practice of law, particularly working with the elderly. Over the years his practice encompassed many different facets of law, including family law, real estate issues, estate planning and collection work.
Marc was a talented musician with a passion for music. Over his lifetime, Marc took great pride and enjoyment in collecting and restoring musical instruments. At the time of his passing, Marc had a vast musical collection mostly comprised of antique organs. Marc enjoyed giving his friends and family tours of his musical collection and sharing the history of the pieces within it. Always an active person, Marc built and remodeled many homes.
Although Marc excelled as a carpenter, musician, Realtor and an attorney, his first love was for his family. His survivors include his mother, Bettie Roecks, Spokane Valley; brother Alan Roecks (Jane), Ethiopia; sister Gayle Hanna (Jeff), Puyallup, Washington; brother Eric Roecks (LuAnn), Vashon, Washington; son Marc Roecks Jr., Spokane Valley; daughter Nina Roecks Jones (Eric Jones), Spokane Valley, and grandchildren Andrew and Nicholas Jones. Some of Marc's happiest times have been shared with his loving wife, Evelyn Roecks and her family. Marc was predeceased by his father Albert R. Roecks, his nephew Chad Alan Kirkland and grandparents Arthur and Elsie Roecks and Ruben and Nina Marll.
A celebration of Marc's life will be held at the Presbyterian Church in Fairfield, Washington on Saturday, November 19, 2011 at 1:00 pm. Fellowship gathering to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate any contributions be made directly to Hospice of Spokane, PO Box 2215, Spokane, WA 99210 in Marc's name.

I went to school at Libety High with Marc but will always remember him for his musical talent. I loved his honky-tonk piano and he could transpose chords in seconds! He called me "Boss" as he helped me with Farifield Flag Day Variety shows and the Fair in Rockford. We wrote a song together that was song at my wedding. My last song with him was "Hard Hearted Hannah" and we had fun! I will miss him so much! Thank you, Marc for the great memories! My thoughts are with you, Betty and family.
