I worked with Marc circa 1977-1978 at the Nalley's potato chip factory on Broadway, now long gone. We worked alongside three other young men on the graveyard clean-up crew and our group bonded over a tabletop football game we played during our --- ahem --- extra-long breaks. Marc was friendly, witty, and oh so chill. I don't believe that Marc smoked pot, but he always seemed so relaxed that one could easily assume otherwise. The prankster in him emerged on his final day of work at Nalley's. Rather than clock out or perform any of the expected job-ending duties following the final bell, Marc simply walked off into the sunrise. Our boss was perplexed and supposed that Marc wasn't aware of the proper procedure. But Marc knew what he was doing. Beyond the minor audacity of the prank, I believe that Marc wanted to make an impact, he wanted people to remember him. Judging by the decent and selfless way he led his life, he did make an impact. And he will be remembered.

Teaching with Marc was such a special time for all of us that had to pleasure of knowing him. He had a terrific sense of humor and loved to make the day a little more interesting by pulling a little prank now and then. He was always willing to share class time and his knowledge. My deepest sympathy to his family. Sending thoughts of wonderful memories he has given us. My heart is sad for your loss!

I was very sad to see this. I had the honor of teaching with Marc in Cambridge, and he was my son's 3rd grade teacher. He really liked and looked up to Marc as did all the kids. Such a loss. My sincere condolences to the family. Such a terrible loss .
