Marian BINSFIELD Obituary
Surrounded by her family, Marian Meadena Binsfield peacefully joined her loved ones and her heavenly father Sunday morning, the third of December 2023. Beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, wife, and friend, she lived her life to the fullest right up to the very end. Often referred to as a composite of Betty Crocker and Martha Stewart, she was equally skilled with a needle and thread, having made many quilts, Brazilian embroidery and cross-stitch pieces, as she was with a paintbrush, a pen writing, or a spatula in the kitchen making gourmet meals, teaching cake or cookie decorating, preparing or preserving game, garden produce, or homemade breads to share with family, friends, neighbors, or others in one of the many organizations to which she belonged.
Deanie was born on February 4, 1931, in Palestine, Illinois, the second of four girls, to Homer and Christine Wesley. Growing up on the family farm in a tight knit community, she developed a strong faith, a passion for history, a strong work ethic and she took pride in a job well done. Never one to miss out on an adventure or an opportunity to grow and learn, she moved to Nashville to complete nurses training then worked in surgery before joining the Air Force so she could travel and see the world, a passion she continued to pursue throughout her life. It was during her service that she met and married the love of her life, Harvey "Buzz" Binsfield. Together they raised a family, made lifelong friends, and eventually settled in Spokane where they became lifelong members of Country Homes Christian Church. She was active leading women's fellowship, teaching Sunday School, serving as a deacon and contributing to numerous service projects like Meals on Wheels and CrossWalk youth program as well as community building organizations including her sorority, Beta Sigma Phi, PieceMakers Quilting Club, Military Officer Wives Association, Mayflower Society, Colonial Dames, Daughters of the American Revolution, Daughters of the War of 1812, and Daughters of the Union Veterans. She concluded her career as a charge nurse at Holy Names Convent then devoted her retirement to enjoying her accomplishments and leaving a lasting legacy to her family. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Cynthia, Margaret (Peggy), and Charlotte, her husband, Harvey, her faithful dog, Rowdy, and is survived by her sons Brian (Amy) Binsfield, Matthew (Amber) Binsfield, and her grandchildren Michael, Megan, Emma, and Brendan Binsfield.
Her friends are invited to join her family in celebrating her life at a service to be held at the site of her interment: Greenwood Memorial Terrace, Garden of Arlington, in Fairmount Cemetery located at 211 N. Government Way, on Saturday, June 29, at 10:30 am, with Pastor Eric Peterson officiating.
