Mike was a devoted and loyal friend. I will never forget his compassion. He was a true friend.

I grew up a block away from Mike, Susan, and Danny and was a year younger than Mike. He was always a buddy I looked up to and the Messinger family were wonderful individuals. Memories of playing sports together in grade school and high school, going camping as Boy Scouts, fishing together at the juvenile fish pond between Garfield and Elberton, summertime sleep-outs in the city park across from their house and in our "fort" outside my house, and wintertime sledding from the top of the hill above my house down the slick snow covered street down to his house. We were so fortunate to grow up in a small community where kids were taught how to work at a young age, and I remember Mike always spending the summers and weekends helping his dad Don farm. After we were graduated from W.S.U. our paths took different directions and I last saw Mike when we enjoyed breakfast together about 40 years ago when he was working for Schwab and he happened to visit Colville. Such a great guy, with an unique sense of humor. Donna's "livestock" reference in the obituary was a splendid example. I thank Jesus Christ for blessing my life with Mike's friendship, and look forward to meeting up with him in Heaven.
