Michele FLECK Obituary

August 1, 1944 - April 12, 2025

Spokane – On April 12, 2025, our beloved mother, grandma, aunt, sister, cousin and friend was peacefully welcomed home. Raised and laid to rest in Spokane, WA, preceded in death by her husband, Dwight Fleck; mother and father, Bertha and Maynard Slagg; and brother, Merrill Slagg.

She was one of the first graduating classes at Shadle Park High School and married Dwight. They welcomed five children, Dwight "Chip" (Melissa), Margie (Tony), Nick, Kathye (Todd), and Pati (Erik). She cherished each of her 12 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

Prior to Michele's retirement in 2006, she worked at JC Penny's for over 30 years. Never slowing down, Michele loved traveling with her siblings and was an avid photographer regardless of the event. Michele enjoyed singing in the church choir, and served as treasurer, and diaconate. She also loved the Spokane Symphony, where she was a season ticket holder and volunteered her time, and her love of the arts could be heard throughout her home when she played on her cherished piano.

Most of all, Michele loved family. Being part of the Peterson and Slagg families was a source of great pride to her and fueled her interest in genealogy. Michele smiled the most when around family and loved reunions. Her last days were spent much the same way; laughing and sharing stories with those she loved and wanting everyone to talk, so she could sit back and be surrounded by laughter.

Michele's services will be held Saturday, June 7th, at 11am, with a reception with light refreshments to follow, hosted at North Hill Church, 4620 N. Post Street, Spokane, WA 99205.
