Molly JOEST Obituary

On Friday, July 2nd, 2021 Molly Ann Dolan Joest passed away peacefully surrounded by her siblings in Monterey, CA. Molly was born on February 2nd, 1956 in Spokane, WA to Eugene and Sally (Close) Dolan. She attended Joel E. Ferris High School, class of 1974 and continued her education at Eastern Washington.

Molly's zest for life and people took shape in her early years where she was active in swim team, DECA and modeling. At the age of 23 she moved to Sun Valley, where she loved skiing, kayaking, mountain biking, and exploring the lakes, rivers, and beautiful mountains.

She eventually moved to Salinas, CA where she expanded her interests in fly fishing, scuba diving, and her love of her rescue dogs and dog agility. She lived for the outdoors and especially loved the water. One of her highlights was qualifying as a volunteer diver for the Monterey Bay Aquarium.

Most of all, Molly cherished her friends and family of which she had many. Her gusto for love, life and laughter took her to many places and events. She loved cooking for her friends, family reunions at Priest Lake, her beloved Seahawk games, and the Hood Canal. She always had a smile on her face and a twinkle in her beautiful smiling Irish eyes.

Molly is survived by her four siblings, Mike (Robbi), Matt (Kehli), Meagan O'Brien (Patrick) and Maureen Weaver (Scott). She has one niece and seven nephews. Molly is preceded in death by her father Gene Dolan (1981) and mother, Sally Dolan (2010).

Molly was dearly loved and will be so missed by so many…." death leaves a heartache no one can heal, but love leaves a memory no one can steal"…. May God hold you in the palm of his hand…. Her memory will burn bright within us always and forever.

Pending celebration of life, September, date TBD, in the Salinas area.

In lieu of flowers, please donate in her name to the Monterey County SPCA or your favorite animal charity.

I am so sorry to hear about Molly´s passing. She was a good friend of mine even though our paths went in different directions over the past 15 years. She was so full of life and energy and worked hard in Salinas to reduce youth violence serving on the Board of Directors for Partners for Peace where she made a real difference. Sending her family and friends my deepest condolences. May she Rest in eternal peace.

Gone way too soon, I know Molly was only on `borrow´, God called her home because he needed her more.
I miss my dear friend more then I can put into words. There is a huge whole in our hearts, Molly was the `glue´ that kept our friends together. Her sense of humor was amazing, the twinkle in her eye was so mischievous & loving at the same time.
She was Aunt Molly to my dogs & cat, she greeted them first when she would walk through the front door, I can still hear... hi kids Aunt Molly´s here!
Top of the morning my friend in Heaven, i you!
