Mortimer SULLIVAN Obituary
Mortimer George Sullivan III left this world on December 31, 2023, after a life well lived. He was born on April 26, 1928, to Mortimer and Matilda Sullivan in Butte, Montana.
At age 17, he joined the Marine Corps with the permission of his parents as he wanted to serve at the end of World War II. He also served in the Korean War. He devoted 30 years and one day to the United States Marine Corps rising through the ranks with unwavering dedication and commitment. His accomplishments were numerous, and he earned the esteemed rank of sergeant major through hard work, discipline, and a profound sense of duty. He also earned a BA degree from EWU and had a successful career with Aetna life insurance.
His legacy is not just military accomplishments but also a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. His unconditional love and wisdom instilled a sense of pride and belonging in the hearts of those he cherished the most. He left an impact on the countless lives he touched. He earned the nickname little leprechaun, for his green attire on St. Patrick's Day. He never met a stranger.
Mort married the love of his life, Bonnie Jean King. Together they shared 50 years of marriage. Their partnership was a testament to the enduring power of love.
They enjoyed life to the fullest, with many lifelong friends, travel, rodeos, they loved holidays, and their home was the gathering place where you felt loved.
May their souls rest in eternal peace together and their enduring spirit continue to inspire us to live in kindness, love and fun.
Together they had five children, nine grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Many thanks to the many caretakers along their journey.
