Norene PENNINGTON Obituary

December 18, 1936 - July 23, 2025

Spokane Valley - Norene Mae (Lindley) Pennington, of Spokane Valley, Washington, passed away peacefully on July 23, 2025. She was born on December 18, 1936, in Spokane, Washington, to Howard and Florence (Newland) Lindley.

A lifelong Spokane area resident, Norene graduated from West Valley High School in 1955. She met her husband, John S. Pennington, at a dance on Mt. Spokane, beginning a beautiful 58-year marriage. As a devoted Air Force wife, they traveled the world together. She worked at Farmers and Merchant Bank until retirement and organized multiple West Valley High School class reunions. Norene bowled in leagues at Valley Bowl, loved hummingbirds (her grandchildren counted over 200 decorations in her house), and enjoyed gardening, puzzles, and reading.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John, in February 2015. At his passing, she lovingly placed "Till we dance again" on his memorial placard. She was also preceded in death by her parents and four brothers: Wayne Lindley, William "Dean" Lindley, James Lindley, and Richard Lindley.

Norene is survived by daughters, Patricia (Gerry) Klumb, Kathryn (Steve) Cree, and Janice (Paul) Hunter; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Per her wishes, there will be no public service. The family respectfully requests no flowers or donations. She will be interred at Spokane Veterans Memorial with her husband, and we take comfort imagining them dancing together again in eternal harmony.
