Richard CASBERG Obituary

It was with great sadness that we said goodbye to this wonderful man on November 21, 2023. Richard (also known as "Dick" or "Cas") was born on June 27, 1935 in a small log cabin in Clayton, Washington to Edwin and Dorothy Casberg. He was preceded in death by his parents, as well as his siblings Evelyn Barney, Geraldine Evans, and Glen "Sandy" Casberg. He is survived by his wife, Rita B. (Moll) Casberg and his daughter, R. Renee (Casberg) Meyer and Son-In-Law, Thomas E. Meyer. He is also survived by his sister, Arletta Rasmussen, as well as many nephews and nieces who loved their Uncle Dick.

First and foremost, Richard loved his family with all his heart and was extremely proud of his career. He graduated from Deer Park High School in 1953. He married his high school sweetheart, Rita Moll, in 1955. Their only daughter was born in 1956. He joined the Naval Air Reserve from 1953-1958, and was stationed at Opa Locka, Florida for 3 years. Richard, Rita, and Renee returned to Washington State in 1958; at which time he joined the Washington Air National Guard from 1959-1990. He was a proud member of the 141st Air Refueling Wing, Fairchild AFB and retired as a Colonel. He loved his career, and was so proud of what he had accomplished. Richard will be remembered for his sense of humor, his attention to detail, and his kind heart. Even in his final years, his bits of wisdom have inspired us.

I do not have Renee's address, so I just want to share my condolences on her father's passing, and wanted them to know that I am thinking of her and her mom, Rita. Take care, and keep his memories strong.

My sincere condolences to Rita and family.
I had not seen Dick since we left high school. I was also born in Clayton, in the front bedroom of my King Grandparents dairy farm house, three years after Dick was born. I grew up knowing Dick and the Casbergs.
You were my high school classmate Rita, and please know you have my heart felt sympathy and good wishes.
