Dick Jones entered peacefully into rest on April 7, 2022. He was born in Enumclaw, WA to Jesse and Helen Jones on February 1, 1933. His family moved to Tonasket, WA where he attended high school and played football. After graduating he moved to Spokane to attend Whitworth College and play football in 1952. He married JoEllen Weir in 1952, also of Tonasket, WA. Dick joined the Marine Corps from 1953 -to 1955, and then returned to Whitworth and his wife and received a Bachelor's degree in Education in 1957.

After retiring from the school district, Dick continued counseling youth and adults alike through his work at Daybreak, The Healing Lodge, private practice at Genesis, Excelsior Youth Center, and his work with the Kalispell Tribe in Usk, WA.

Dear Jim, Jennifer, and families,
Both your dad and your mom were wonderful people and friends since 1970. They definitely added to the fabric of the north Spokane community and enhanced the quality of life of everyone who was acquainted with them. You are in my heart and on my mind as you grieve their loss. My hope is that fond memories will sustain you as you adjust to life without them. Sincerely, Paddy Inman

I knew Dick and JoEllen via my parents & grandparents on my dad's side. Dick was great friend to many people in all different walks of life. He was big Whitworth supporter from sports to helping the Whitworth Auxiliry in helping out on the events day with other men for the ladies when needing strong hands. He was a wonderful person to be around, deep faith motivator in spending time 1 on 1 with you just to build connections which I loved and will miss dearly! Thank you for being amazing friend, mentor, neighbor, church leader. Remember that Family does have a meaning (Father)(And)(Mother)(I)(Love)(You). Same for 143=(I)(Love)(You). I will always cherish memories of you and will keep family in prays during this time.
