Rick DAVIS Obituary

June 21, 1944 - August 4, 2023

We have lost our Husband, Dad, Uncle, Cousin, and Friend. However, we will never be without the wonderful memories of a man who lived his life to the fullest.

Rick lost his Father, Robert Davis II, at age 2, his mother, Josephine Davis, at age 29, and his brother, Robert Davis III (Buzz), at age 31. He stepped in as a special Uncle to his nephews, Bob & Steve. He had an extra appreciation for family. At age 79, he had lived longer than any other Davis man.

Rick graduated from Shadle Park H.S. class of 1962, attended EWU, then served in the Coast Guard Reserves. He would reminisce about his time in the Alaskan waters on the CGC Dexter and marching in the Seafair parade.

Rick spent most of his life in Spokane working and spending time at summer homes at Priest Lake. He sold his business, Phoenix Electric & Lighting, in 2000. Early retirement took him to AZ where he was at The Gallery Golf Club for over 20 years. He was a member of the Spokane Country Club for 43 years & served on the board including a term as president. He loved competing in golf & tied the competitive course record at Liberty Lake with a 64 in a pro-am on his birthday one year! The newspaper dubbed him "The jaunty mustachioed Country Club belter".

He rounded out his golf over the years with skiing, boating, snowmobiling, fishing, hiking, cross-country motorcycles, and travel. Rick enjoyed staying busy and was always involved in a new project, including buying and selling anything from houses to golf carts.

Rick and Joann have been married for 56 years and have 2 children Allyson & Roderic (Cheryl) and 6 grandkids, Josie, Kaeli, Will, Spencer, Javi, and Maria. He enjoyed watching them grow and achieve their potential with many great memories at their Priest Lake cabin.

Rick had a few sayings that he enjoyed using, including: "Get the money, don't forget the money, don't forget to get the money" & "Do not work on a chicken farm" & "No one ever said, I wish I had worked one more day at the office" & "Someone has to win".

Rick will be remembered for his positive attitude, smile, laugh, distinctive voice, good humor, and love of family and friends.

The family will gather at a later date to celebrate the life of our beloved Rick.

Always enjoyed being with Rick. Whether it was golfing, eating or shooting the breeze, there was never a dull moment. He was one of the original "good" guys. Linda and I will miss him. Jerry and Linda Bich
