Robert McEWEN Obituary

Robert Alan McEwen passed away on July 10 at the age of 83. Bob was born in Omaha, Nebraska, and moved to Illinois, where he spent his childhood working on the family dairy farm. Bob, his sister, Mary, and parents, Gen and Robert, moved to Spokane, and Bob graduated from Mead High School in 1958. Bob married Judy in 1963 and they raised three kids, David, Steve and Lori on Orchard Prairie. Bob was a service manager at Ryerson Steel and a volunteer fireman at District 9, Station 4. Bob was a loyal friend, opinionated, outspoken, and a hard worker. He loved nature, this country, the planet, and his family. When he took on a new hobby, he was all in: CB radios, tying flies for fishing, riding motorcycles, running marathons. He had a stroke in 2006 that significantly altered his mobility. He was deeply grateful (though still surly) to his wife, Judy, for taking care of him. Bob spent his final week at Holy Family Hospital under the attentive and tender care of the nurses and doctors on floor 3. There will be graveside service only at Orchard Prairie Cemetery on August 14 at 11:00 am. A potluck gathering will follow at family home.
