Loving wife, caring mother, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 24, 2011, at the Good Samaritan Care Center in Spokane Valley. Sally was born on a farm near Glen Ullin, North Dakota to Anton and Annastasia Wurtz. She was about seven when the family moved to Spokane and she grew up in the Peaceful Valley area. After high school she worked at the Crescent Department Store and The Davenport Hotel. She met and married Trebor Pollard in 1946. While raising three children she worked at the South Hill Pharmacy and then for Mutual of Omaha at the Spokane International Airport. She married Robert Riley in 1973 and they spent many years traveling extensively. She was licensed to sell real estate in Arizona. She loved gardening, traveling, camping, painting with acrylics and making and selling jewelry. She enjoyed membership in the Lilac City Sam's RV Club and the North Idaho Mineral Club. She is survived by husband, Robert; children, Linda (Chuck) Dreese of Altoona, Pennsylvania, Ken Pollard of St. John, Washington, Steve (Trish) Pollard of Clifton, Virginia; step-children, Carol (Jerold) Johnson of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Mark (Mary) Riley of Elkhart, Indiana. She is also survived by a sister, Florence Lancaster, and brother, Anton Wurtz, Jr., and many nieces and nephews. Sally is survived by 11 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by sisters Josephine O"Connor and Agatha (Peggy) Kennedy. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, March 28, in the chapel at the Good Samaritan Care Center, 17121 E. 8th Ave., Spokane Valley.
