Steve MARTIN

May 5, 1961 - April 5, 2025

Steve Martin was a big man with a bigger personality and a love of wide-open spaces. He was happiest when pursuing his many hobbies from driving his dune buggy through the California desert to fishing in Alaska. A self-described luddite, he proudly refused to own a computer and kept an eclectic and ever-growing collection of vintage machines, street signs, and all things Americana.

Two of his most prized possessions were his project cars: a 1939 International Truck and a 1941 Studebaker that he lovingly towed from his hometown of Redondo Beach, CA when he moved his family to Spokane, WA in 1993.

He would have been right at home in one of his beloved John Wayne films. A hard worker and a man of great integrity, he had no patience for poor workmanship and was the first to call people out with his wicked sense of humor. Although lesser known than the comedian, our Steve Martin made just as many people laugh over his lifetime. Both in life and now in death, he keeps his friends and family laughing and smiling through the best and worst of times.

Steve built a career as a general contractor with a reputation for applying his relentless pursuit of perfection to everything he did. He transformed countless spaces with unique, beautiful, and high-quality remodels. He had a loyal group of repeat clients, and his work was so sought after that he often had year-long waitlists and never once paid to advertise his business.

Steve passed away peacefully at home in his sleep at the age of 63. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Kathy; his three children, Kelly, Nick, and Mandi; two grandsons, Joseph and Miles; his parents, Pat and Larry; and his sister, Sue. He was preceded in death by his brother, Mike.
