July 19, 1924 - December 13, 2022
Vivian "Vasiliki" Arger passed away, joining our Lord, on the morning of December 13, 2022.
Vasi was the youngest child of Maria Kutulas Delegans and Gregory Louie Delegans, born July 19, 1924, in Penawawa, WA. Both of Vasi's parents came from the town of Kandila near Tripoli in the Peloponnese area of Greece. Vasi grew up in Washington, where she graduated from Central Valley High School in 1943. Always a hard worker, she began working at the age of 14 as a bookkeeper at her Uncle Harry's New Deal Produce House.
Vasi met the love of her life, Gene Arger, and married June 2, 1946. Vasi and Gene were married 51 years until Gene's passing in 1997, becoming a widow for eternity. They had four wonderful sons: George (tragically lost life in 1981 car accident), Gregory, Anthony and Prokey. Gene and his sons were all graduates of Washington State University with much help and inspiration from family.
Vasi was an exceptional mother filling her home with an abundance of love and guidance. In addition, she would work tirelessly on the farm selling produce and flowers while attending banking school at Gonzaga University and working as a head bank teller at Washington Trust Bank. She also attended real estate school and became a licensed realtor, prior to managing the guest service operations at a local fast food restaurant chain in Spokane, WA.
Vasi was very active and a big supporter of Spokane's Greek Orthodox Church community. She was instrumental in writing and publishing Greeks in Washington, a book highlighting the businesses, achievements and activities of Greeks and their families in Spokane, WA. Vasi also dedicated her time to documenting the early history of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church.
Vasi was a wonderful supporter of her church and community. You would always find her supporting the annual Greek Festival cooking huge quantities of her special recipe green beans. Her cooked beans became so popular, today they are known as "Arger Beans". She was known for her amazing cooking skills and many of her recipes have been handed down to friends and family. In addition, she volunteered and served as the President of the Philoptochios (women's philanthropic arm of The Greek Orthodox Church) for many years.
Vasi's life was much about faith and family with love and kindness for all. She would channel God's love, forgiveness and kindness to overcome life's hardships. One of the most beautiful attributes of Vasi was her ability to love everybody as they were, without judgment, spreading God's love to all in preparation of eternal life.
Vasi was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband, a son, a stepson, and her sister.
She is survived by her sons, Gregory (Kathleen), Anthony (Betty), and Prokey (Jamie) and adored by her 10 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
Vasi is loved by many and was a resident at Evergreen Fountains Senior Living Community.
She was very appreciative in receiving great Care and Kindness from the entire staff. The Family expresses their gratitude to all Evergreen Fountains Staff, Including Dr.Hustrulid MD.
