Wilfred Edward
(Age 82)

Passed away May 17, 2011 at his home surrounded by his family in Spokane, WA. He was born January 21, 1929 in Hague, ND, where he grew up. Wilfred enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and later moved to Portland. He then moved to Spokane where he met and married Virginia Andrews at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in 1959. Wilfred worked at Kaiser Aluminum for 10 years and then after 30 years of working as a letter carrier for the U.S. Post Office retired in 1986. Throughout the years he was a member of St. Francis Xavier and St. Patrick Catholic Churches, where he was very involved. It was very important to him to read and share scripture with others. He was also a member of the Eagle's lodge and the Knights of Columbus, with which he enjoyed being a member of their bowling league. Wilfred delivered meals for Meals on Wheels as well. He is survived by his sons, Bill (Sue) Fischer and Edward (Vicki) Fischer; daughter, Diane Fischer; brothers, James (Donna) Fischer, Roger (Annie) Fischer and Willis (Carol) Fischer; sisters, Vivian (Joe) Kuntz and Phyllis Oas; grandchildren, Neil Smith, Jamie Burns, Jenifer Piper and Bryan Fischer; great-grandchildren, Abigale Piper, Jayson Burns and Tanner Piper all of Spokane as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Wilfred was preceded in death by his parents, Alois and Theresa Fischer and his loving wife, Virginia.
A Vigil Service and Visitation will be held Thursday, May 19, 2011 at
7 PM at the funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, May 20, 2011 at 2 PM at St. Patrick Catholic Church with Interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. The family suggests Memorial Contributions be made to the St. Patrick Catholic School, 2706 E. Queen Avenue, Spokane, WA 99217.

Fred was our neighbor for many years. He always waved hello in the mornings on our way out to start the day and he was off to breakfast. He will be missed. Our condolences to the family.
