William Roy "Rusty" MAY

1941 - 2021

William "Rusty" Roy May, Age 80, passed away on Sunday, December 26, 2021, in Spokane, Washington. He was born on September 16, 1941, in San Antonio, Texas to parents Herbert and Marjorie (Pierpoint) May. He graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1959. He attended San Antonio College and received an Associates of Arts Degree in 1969 and went on to receive his Bachelor's degree in Business Education, minor in Physical Education from Southwest Texas State University in 1971. He spent many years as a teacher and a coach at Northwest Christian School in Spokane, Washington. Later on, he worked as a Department Store Manager in Galveston, Texas. He then worked as a 911 Dispatcher at Dickinson Police Department in Dickinson, Texas. He also worked as a local Distributor for the Houston Chronicle for several years. After moving back to Spokane, he spent his later years working as a Security Guard. He was a dedicated worker with a strong work ethic. Rusty will be remembered for his keen sense of humor and a gifted knack for teasing. He had a tough exterior with a loving heart on the inside that was exemplified in his love for his family. He was deeply devoted to his wife, Mary, of 21 years and took exceptional care of her during her battle with Multiple Sclerosis. He was also devoted to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and continued to walk in his growing relationship with Him. He is survived by his sons, Robert Carter and David Carter; step-children, Debra (Lonn) Stalter, Donna (Patton) Mann, Tom (Lori) Wegeleben, Jim (Deb) Wegeleben, John (Julie) Wegeleben, Kathleen (Shawn) Powell, and Norma (Shane) Whatley; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, Fran (Larry) Vaden; nephews, Timothy Vaden, Jonathan Vaden, and Chad May; niece, Deborah Barron. He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary (Ogden) May; brother, Eddie May; and his parents. A Memorial Service will be held at a later time.
