News Death Notice
McNEIL, Christopher Michael 29, of Springfield, passed away Saturday, October 26, 2013. He was born August 5, 1984 in Springfield, the son of Michael and Laura (Briggs) McNeil. Chris enjoyed playing video games with his son, fishing and camping. Survivors include his mother; Laura McNeil and fiance: Shawn Pack, Urbana, his father: Michael McNeil, Springfield, Chris' loving companion of many years: Ida Brown, three children: twins Caleb and Sadie McNeil and Christopher M. McNeil Jr., two sisters; Ami McNeil and Saraha McNeil, Springfield, grandparents; Nancy and Tom McNeil, Springfield and Katharine Church, Texas numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and many friends including best friend and uncle: Darrin Briggs and good friends: Brian Lewis, Michael Hill and Carlos Ragland Sr., Springfield. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 5:00PM until 8:00PM Friday in the JONES - KENNEY - ZECHMAN FUNERAL HOME. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Chris' family.

Laura, I am so very, very sorry for yours and Chris' family's loss. There are just no words. We have been friends since kindergarten, and it breaks my heart that there is nothing I can say or do to ease your pain, or Chris' family's pain. Chris at first you didn't like me but I grew on you. You felt I took your mom away from you but you were always first in her heart. You became one of my own and it hurts so bad to see you go. You were a wonderful father and son, I will do my best to care for your family as long as I'm alive. You will be greatly missed. All my love.

I don't know where to start my son. You were my life I love you so much, it's going to be so hard to go on and not have you here. Your children especially Caleb need you so much not only were you his father but he worshiped the ground you walked on, I picture him now waking up at night walking in the living room expecting to see you to get a snack and to play video games and you're not their it just breaks my heart it sounds selfish but I can't say you are in a better place because your place is here with your family. Remember you mommie loves you son and hopefully I'll see you again.
