Deborah EWING Obituary

EWING, Deborah A. Was born in Dayton, Ohio on December 24, 1951 to the late Johnny and Dolores. She departed this life on March 25, 2017. Deborah (Debbie) confessed her love to God at a very young age. She was a member of Inspirational Baptist Church, and was a God-fearing woman who believed in the power of family, and ministering the word. Debbie attended Trotwood-Madison High School and graduated in 1970. She had a wonderful childhood. During her younger years, her parents, Dolores and Herbert Hines, introduced her to several hobbies at an early age such as; bowling, skating, camping, and fishing that she grew to love into adulthood. In her free time, Debbie also enjoyed going to the Bingo halls with friends and the adrenaline rush of that big win. Debbie met the love of her life, Richard Ewing, and was joined in marriage on June 10th, 1989, becoming her soul mate for 31+ years. With this union, they reared five wonderful children together. Debbie was employed at Estridge Market and Montgomery County Water & Sewage department for 15 years where she retired in 2000, but not before building strong lasting relationships. Debbie's passion for giving and opening her home to so many people proved her compassion and love for everyone. She never met a stranger and was considered a "mom" to so many. Debbie was a generous, loving mother, sister, aunt and Granny. She was a wonderful mother that taught her children to be responsible and independent. She was dedicated to her family and cherished every special moment; especially holidays. Debbie always supported her grandkids in their various activities, and was a consistent presence. Her grandkids will always remember her playful spirit that made them roll over in laughter, and she will truly be missed. Deborah is preceded in death by her parents, Dolores and Herbie Hines, Sr.; husband, Richard Ewing; brother, Johnlee Birdsong, Sr. (Lela) and special sister, Fanniel. She leaves to cherish her memory: (3) brothers, Herbie Hines, Jr. (Janet), Tony Hines and Clarence Hines; (2) sisters, Theresa "TC" Rabb (Eugene) and Pete Epps (Marion); (5) children, LaDawn Skelton, Dwight J. Gaskins, Anthony R. Ewing (Vania), Byron Ewing (Kathryn) and Toby Ewing (Billi); (16) grandchildren; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and extended family and friends. Funeral services will be held 11:30 a.m., SATURDAY, April 1, 2017 at GREATER ST. JOHN MISSIONARY BAPTIST CHURCH, 4200 Germantown Pk. Reverend Lloyd D. Hayes, Pastor, with Bishop Victor Couzens, officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service. Interment: Woodland Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Thomas Funeral Home, 4520 Salem Ave. On-line condolences may be sent to the family at www.thomasfunerals.com
