Family-Placed Obituary


AYERS, Howard Wayne 58, of Springfield, died Tuesday August 9, 2005 in South Carolina. He was born February 5, 1947 in Crossville, Tennessee, the son of the late Henry J. and Agnes Blanch (Gist) Ayers. He attended Maiden Lane Church of God. He served his country with the United States Marines during Vietnam. He was a 1992 graduate of the FBI National Academy at Quantico and was a retired Lieutenant from the Springfield Police Division after serving twenty-five years on the department. He was honored as Officer of the Year by the Springfield Association of Life Underwriters. Survivors include his wife, Teresa S. "Terry" (Welch) Ayers, of Springfield; two sons, Shawn J. Ayers of Springfield and Michael D. Ayers of Dayton; two brothers, Douglas Ayers of Miami, Florida and Ronald Ayers of Huber Heights; sister, Patricia Clemons of Huber Heights. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Monday from 4-8 p.m. in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME, with Fraternal Order of Police service at 7:30 p.m. The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, August 16, 2005 with Rev. Randall W. Spence of the Maiden Lane Church of God, officiating. Entombment will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park Mausoleum. You may express condolences to the family at www.littletonandrue.com

Such a very special person in our lives. You were taken from us and we didn't even get to say good-bye. We will miss you very much but you will always be with us in our hearts. That can never be taken away. If you see Grandma and Agnes please give them a big hug and tell them we love them.
