News Death Notice

GROSS, Marjorie Jean 86, of Springfield passed away September 20, 2011 in Mercy St. John's. She was born in Springfield, Ohio on January 29, 1925, the daughter of James and Fern Welch. Marjorie retired from the Kissell Co. in the accounting department. She was a longtime member of the Institute of Divine Metaphysical Research. Her hobbies included music, traveling, gardening, her dogs, and especially her grandchildren and special longtime friends Dr. Oliver and June Gill and Dr. Nathan and Louise Higgins. She was preceded in death by her husband Frank H. Gross, former husband Francis M. McKenney, sister and best friend Avanell Metherd, father James Welch, mother and step father Fern B. and John Howley. Survivors include her children Teresa F. & Larry Baldwin, Vaughn E. & Beverly McKenney, and Terry D. & Mary McKenney all of Springfield; six grandchildren Stephanie Stanton and Jennifer & Eric Price both of Springfield, Jason & Megan McKenney of Cleveland, Melissa & Aaron Perry of South Charleston, Becky & Mike Meyers and Barbie & Tony Jones both of Springfield; fourteen great-grandchildren; and one nephew Dr. Warren L & Beth Metherd of Cincinnati. A celebration of her life will be Friday at 1:00 PM in the RICHARDS, RAFF & DUNBAR MEMORIAL HOME with Drs. Oliver Gill and Nathan Higgins officiating. Family and friends may call two hours prior to services. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are requested to Community/Mercy Hospice. Burial to follow in Ferncliff Cemetery.
