Mark SMITH Obituary
News Death Notice
SMITH, Mark D. 65, of West Liberty, died on Wednesday, September 2, 2015 in Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Chicago, IL due to heart complications. He was born on October 31, 1949 in Bellefontaine, OH, a son of Harold and Helen "Penny" (Pencil) Smith. Mark graduated from Northwestern High School in Clark County and worked for most of his life at Navistar International. Later he worked as a paraprofessional at Mac-A-Cheek Learning Center and the autism unit. He was also a long time basketball coach in Champaign County. Survivors include his wife, Denise (Petry) Smith; daughter, Amy (Regan) Eggleston of Urbana; son, Ryan (Melissa) Smith of Chicago, IL; grandchildren, Jocelyn Holtsberry and Aubre Eggleston of Urbana; brothers-in-law, Paul Williams and Keith Warner; and nephews and nieces, TJ Warner and Cassandra (Brian) Schmitmeyer, Jimmy Williams and Paula Williams. Mark was preceded in death by his parents; in-laws, Irene and Delbert Petry; nephew, Rusty Smith; sister, Vicki Williams; and, sister-in-law, Vicki Warner. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, September 8, 2015 in the WALTER& STOWE FUNERAL HOME, Urbana, where a memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, September 9, 2015 with Juanita Brooks officiating. Memorial contributions may be made in Mark's memory to Mac-A-Cheek Learning Center, 1130 W. Sandusky St., Bellefontaine, OH 43311. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.walterfunerals.com

I had the pleasure of working with Mark at West Liberty -Salem schools. He was such a kind, patient and upbeat person. He was always wearing his favorite NC blue! I am glad I had the chance to work along side such a wonderful man. Thoughts and prayers go out to his family.
